Customer-facing for 10 years

I’ve been in customer-facing roles for over 10 years now. I’m looking back on frustrating days and weeks, as well as very fulfilling events.

Working with Customers is something I learned over time, from various people.

When I was a developer, I had the fortune to work directly with stakeholders or end-users on many projects. It’s different if you know who’s going to use your software later on, compared to you sitting somewhere just getting handed tasks.

Not too long ago, I went into customer support, seeing everything from another side. Specifically, how to solve problems without code, but words and documentation.

That intensified with the transition into Sales.

What’s important to keep in mind here is, users deserve our respect. They do a job and seek our support to build tools and solutions that make their lives easier, enabling them to do better on the job.
